We believe that every person in recovery:

  • Has a duty to themselves and to the community to become a responsible, acceptable and productive member of society.
  • Needs to give back what they have so freely been given.
  • Needs the structure, love and support of others. No man is an island!
  • Can choose to recreate their lives by working and living out the 12 steps, learning to be happy, joyous and free from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.

Palm Beach county of South Florida is sometimes referred to as the alcohol and drug recovery capital of the Unites States due an extremely high rate of half way houses, sober living environments and treatment facilities.  Decades ago, this strip of South Florida's coast became home to many recovering alcoholics and addicts and through the years has raised up all the personal, psychological and health support services necessary for a vast array of differing recovery needs.  Maybe partly due to the easy accessibility of beautiful beaches, even for people without vehicles it's normally just a short walk, or maybe also due to the warm weather.  One thing is for sure, that thousands have come to be able to enjoy the freedom from addiction that allows for the simple things of life to be cherished, like being able to peacefully watch a sunrise or sunset while sitting in a meeting on the beach with people who have become good friends.

Any recovering alcoholic or chemical dependent person can easily find meetings to match their recovery needs, regardless of their work schedule.  This is made possible due to the extremely high number of 12 step recovery meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous along the Florida coast in the cities of Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Palm Beach and West Palm Beach beginning from sunrise on through the late evening.  There are also many support services for searching and finding work and the area businesses tend to be recovery friendly.

Finding a home group within a 12 step recovery program, along with a sponsor who we help guide us through the process, has the potential of becoming one of the richest parts of our personal recovery and sober living.  Many of us have experienced entering sober houses with pain, anger and emptiness to surprisingly find true friendships emerge and the very reasons that bound us to our addictions began to slowly fade away.  Those of us who follow such a path awaken one day to realize that love, friendship and the freedom from self medicating has become a wonderful way of life and that the personal value and self-worth of our experience is passed on to others as the pattern of sobriety simply repeats, one to another, to another...
